Get ready for the USD Men's Volleyball 2007-8 Season!

Thank you for expressing interest in the USD Men's Volleyball program. The USD Men's Volleyball program is dedicated to providing an opportunity for USD students to play competative men's volleyball. The team competes in the Southern California Collegiate Volleyball League and strives each year to represent USD at the NIRSA National Championships. Practice times for this season are tentatively set for Mondays and Wednesdays from 5-7PM.

We will be having open gym for those of you interested on 9/26 & 10/1 from 5-7PM at the USD Sports Center. Official tryouts are set for Wednesday 10/3 & Monday 10/8 from 5-7PM in the USD Sports Center.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to email me.

Look forward to seeing all of you at either opne gym or tryouts!!!

USD Toreros roll into Spring Season!!!

The USD Toreros are rollin' back from Xmas break and heading straight into the official SCCVL season.

After just one brief practice to get back into the swing of things, the Toreros headed off to the UCI tournament.

Facing UCI, CSUF, and UCSB in pool play, the Toreros went 1-2, beating CSUF, yet dropping to both UCSB and UCI, in three games (two out of three format).

All in all the performance was promising and a great chance to get back into the swing of things in just one day.

Spring 2007 Update

Hope you are all having a great break. Just wanted to give you a brief update on this year's season as it is developing.

You guys return on Jan 29th, and we are set to practice Mondays and Wednesdays from 5-7pm. Our first practice is set to be Wednesday, Jan 31st.

This means that we are getting a late start in our region, so we have to husstle to fit in all of our league matches. Take a quick look at the calendar to see what our current schedule looks like.

I still need to schedule with UCSD and CSUSM. Below are the other dates that I have booked the USD Sports Center for, I am trying to fill them as fast as possible. Hopefully soon with UCSD, and CSUSM, then I will open them up to any team that wants to travelo down to USD.

Practice Schedule Revised

In an effort to maximize the number of players that are able to attend practice times, I have rescheduled the remaining practices for the fall semester. Basically we are keeping Mondays, dropping most Wednesdays and pickup up a few other random times.

Hopefully we can get a solid crew together on these other nights and get things back on track for the season!

This means that you guys need to be diligent about remembering when practices are and making sure that you give ample advance notice when you are unable to make a practice. The times are all over the map, some LATE Thursdays (9-11pm), some Sunday evenings (4-6pm), and a few Wednesday evenings (5-7 pm). As intramurals start to slow down, I may move things around to better fit everyones schedule.

Please take a look at the below time and let me know if you have any major conflicts.

2006-7 USD Men's Volleyball Team announced

As I mentioned, we inevitably have an imbalance in the positions that players are trying out for, and simply find ourselves with too many players trying out for too few positions. 2006-7 USD Men's Volleyball Team Tryouts

Tryouts for the USD Men's Volleyball team have been scheduled. Tryouts will be held Monday, September 25th from 5-7PM and Tuesday September 26th from 7-9PM. Tryouts will be held in the USD Sports Center.

If you are interested in trying out please drop me an email at darner@sandiego.edu and let me know you are coming! Spread the word everyone is invited.

If anyone cannot make tryouts, but is interested in playing on the team, please contact me at darner@sandiego.edu and let me know your situation. Look forward to seeing everyone!
